The Sensor tool enables entering or importing the band settings of an optical sensor. This information is stored in the current MySQL database and can be called when aiming to run a radiative transfer model (RTM). Selecting a sensor in ARTMO’s main window makes then possible to simulate spectral outputs according to the sensor-specific band settings. This step facilitates further processing, e.g. when applying simulated data against a corresponding satellite image for retrieval applications.
In principle, any kind of band settings can be defined, but it is recommended to stay within the range that is covered by most RTMs, i.e. 400-2400 nm.
Entering sensor band settings can be done either manually or can be imported, e.g. through an ENVI header (.hdr) file, from a text file or from sensor information of another database. Spectral filter data can be added.
By default band settings of the following sensors are provided: Landsat 7 TM, Landsat 7 ETM+, SPOT-4 VMI, SPOT-4 HRVIR, CHRIS Mode-3, MODIS, MERIS, Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3 OLCI, Sentinel-3 SLSTR.
